Elevated Environmental Corp. Plans Expansion & Job Fair

Elevated Environmental Corporation is expanding its Reidsville operation with the purchase of the former Reidsville Armory building on North East Market Street. The environmental, demolition and industrial services company will combine existing facilities from Greensboro and Reidsville into this new location, which will serve as the company’s flagship corporate headquarters and warehouse/storage operation.  The company plans to invest about $450,000 in the historic building and create 10-20 new jobs within the next year.

Elevated Environmental is hosting a Job Fair on Thursday, December 7th from 5-7 p.m. at the Reidsville Chamber of Commerce, which is located at 140 South Scales Street in downtown Reidsville, NC.  Jobs created will be in the construction and safety sectors.

“The decision to expand our presence and bring our headquarters to Reidsville was a calculated step in our business growth strategy,” said Stephanie Cox, president of Elevated Environmental Corp. “This community is where we live, work and raise our family. It is where we call home.

“The purchase of the armory is part our belief in investing in our community and providing quality employee opportunities for the area,” she added. “We can further expand staffing and capabilities in our service offerings, as well as increase our ability to reach future markets.”

“We are ecstatic about Elevated Environmental’s plans for this historic building in Reidsville. It is great to see this existing business growing here while also bringing new life to one our vacant buildings,” said Jan Critz, director of the Rockingham County Center for Economic Development, Small Business & Tourism.

“Elevated Environmental’s decision to locate its headquarters in the former Armory property is a huge success story for both the company and the City of Reidsville. Not only does the community attract quality jobs and private investment, this project will be a catalyst for the redevelopment and revitalization of this historic area of Reidsville. The City is excited to be a part of Elevated Environmental’s future growth and we appreciate the commitment to our community,” said Jeff Garstka, director of Economic Development for Reidsville.

“We recently purchased a Hypertherm XPR300 Plasma table that is six feet wide by 24 feet long, which enables us to be more efficient and improve the quality of our cuts on metals up to three inches thick.  This new table, one of 15 in the US currently, pushed us to expand our operation in Reidsville,” said Linda Keaton, fabrication manager at Bibey Machine and Fabrication.

“We are excited and proud to see another one of our existing industries growing.  We appreciate Bibey Machine and Fabrication’s dedication to and investment in Rockingham County and we look forward to the company’s continued success here,” said Jan Critz, director of the Rockingham County Center for Economic Development, Small Business & Tourism.

Site Selection Ranks NC #2 State To Do Business For Third Straight Year

North Carolina has been named the No. 2 state to do business by Site Selection magazine for the third straight year.

North Carolina scored a total of 94 points across all the criteria in Site Selection’s 2017 Top State Business Climate Rankings, close behind top-ranked Georgia with 98 points.

Rounding out the top states were Texas, 93 points; Ohio, 88; Tennessee, 87; Alabama and South Carolina tied at 85; Kentucky, 82; Virginia, 80; and Indiana and Louisiana tied at 78.

Fifty percent of the ranking is based on a survey of site selectors (i.e., corporate facility investors and site consultants) regarding which states they consider the most business friendly.

The other 50 percent is based on seven criteria, including performance in Site Selection’s annual Prosperity Cup. North Carolina is currently No. 1 in this ranking of competitiveness in attracting new plants.

The remaining criteria include: total Conway Projects Database-compliant facility locations and expansion projects announced in 2016 (this considers only private-sector projects that involve one or more of the following — $1 million or more in investment, 20 or more new jobs or 20,000 or more square feet of new construction); total projects in 2016 per capita; total 2017 projects year to date; total 2017 projects year to date per capita; and state tax burdens on new and mature firms.

In fiscal year 2017, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, working with its partners, helped close deals on 137 business recruitment and expansion projects resulting in the announcement of $3.83 billion in investment and 15,748 new jobs in North Carolina.  That compares well to FY 2016 results, particularly on the jobs front, when the EDPNC and its partners supported 122 projects that resulted in the announcement of 14,806 new jobs and $4.2 billion in capital investment.

“Advanced technology is critical for anyone in today’s digital world.  Total access is our goal for Rockingham County with particular focus on public safety,” said Rockingham County Chairman Mark Richardson.  “We still have work to be done to connect everyone, and I will continue to work with my colleagues and private industry to encourage investment and bring increased access to high-speed Internet across the county.”
